The Peer Network Community — Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how The Peer Network (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you participate in The Peer Network Community (the “Community”), a private online space for certified peer support specialists.
This policy applies to the Community only. It does not cover services delivered through The Peer Network’s clinical platform or any other product. Where the Community handles information related to your clinical work, please remember: the Community is not a place to share Protected Health Information (PHI), and our Code of Conduct prohibits doing so.
Information we collect
Information you provide at registration. When you join the Community, we collect your name, email address, state of practice, certification type and number, year you were certified, and the populations you serve. We use this to verify your eligibility to join.
Information you provide as a member. This includes posts, replies, direct messages, profile fields, photos or avatars you upload, and any other content you share in the Community.
Information collected automatically. When you use the Community, our platform automatically logs information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, timestamps, and similar technical data. This is standard activity data used to operate and secure the platform.
What we do not collect
We do not collect PHI through the Community, and the Community is not designed or intended to receive PHI. If PHI is posted in violation of our Code of Conduct, we will remove it as quickly as possible.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. The Community is for credentialed adult professionals only.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Verify that you are a certified peer support specialist and eligible to join
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Community
- Communicate with you about the Community, including announcements, digests, and moderation matters
- Enforce our Code of Conduct and protect the safety of members
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
- Understand how the Community is used in aggregate so we can make it better
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for advertising.
How we share your information
With other members. Your profile information (name, state, certification type, year certified, populations served) and the content you post in the Community are visible to other verified members. Direct messages are visible to the recipients you send them to and to platform administrators when necessary for moderation or legal compliance.
With our service providers. We use third-party vendors to host and operate the Community, manage member communications, and support related business functions such as email correspondence and customer relationship management. These vendors are bound by their own privacy commitments and contractual obligations to us, and are permitted to use your information only to provide services to us.
For legal reasons. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Peer Network, our members, or others; or to investigate violations of our Code of Conduct.
In a business transfer. If The Peer Network is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify members before any such transfer changes how their information is handled.
How long we keep your information
We keep your registration information and posts for as long as you are an active member of the Community. If you leave or are removed, we anonymize your account and remove your profile information within a reasonable time. Your posts remain in place by default unless you request removal, as described in the Code of Conduct.
Backups and system logs may persist for up to 90 days after deletion as part of normal platform operation.

Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls limiting who can view administrative data, and vendor agreements requiring appropriate security from our service providers. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored in the Community.
If we become aware of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you and applicable authorities as required by law.
Cookies and tracking
The Community uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and operate the platform. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect your ability to use the Community.

The Community is operated from the United States. If you access the Community from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
